It’s my proud privilege to say that the Government of Assam has introduced a scheme with central assistance for establishment of Model Degree Colleges in educationally backward districts where Gross Enrolment Ratio (GER) for higher education is less than the national GER. Although initially these institutions are developed as institutions for Higher Secondary and undergraduate level education, the government has the plan of introducing Post Graduate (PG) level in these institutions in the future.
The Government Model College, Borkhola, Cachar was established in 2020. The college has a vast campus spread over 38 (thirty eight) bighas. It is situated on a unique zero pollution hilltop surrounded by hills and greenery at Borkhola. It’s a dream project of the Government of Assam with financial support from Rashtriya Uchchatar Shiksha Abhiyan (RUSA). Read More

The necessary infrastructure of the Model College such as Academic Building, Library Building etc is completed. In the last academic session, we have celebrated all the significant national days and several other co-curricular activities that are generally observed in an academic institution. Amidst the ongoing academic activities infrastructural development such as residential complex for teaching and non-teaching staff, girls’ hostel, canteen, boundary wall, and principal’s residence etc are going on in full suing.
Taking note of the New Education Policy of the Government of India, our college is striving to promote skill-based knowledge, inclusive growth of education, participatory culture and value-based approach in addition to its regular courses in the near future. Our college shall remain ever proactive in developing its academic dimensions in terms of quality teaching, innovative practices and research to fulfil the requirement of all the stake holders. I feel privileged to mention that we have a group of experienced, qualified, dynamic and energetic faculty members committed to their profession and dedicated towards the greater interest of the students. I hope that our students will be able to excel in their academic and intellectual pursuits through this institution.
Finally, I extend my warm welcome to all the learners who are desirous of getting themselves admitted in this great institution of higher education. Our holistic approach towards education will have an ever-lasting impact on the formation of the life and character of the learners. The college is committed to extending all possible co-operations in helping the students in their quest for attaining outstanding careers.
