About the Library

The library is often regarded as the heart of an educational institution and the cornerstone of a modern educational framework. The Central Library, Government Model College Borkhola, is well-equipped with various sections including acquisition, circulation, periodicals, reference, and maintenance. The library can accommodate multiple users at a time in the reading section, which features comfortable seating arrangements. Users have access to a range of facilities such as reading books, magazines, and newspapers, as well as borrowing books and receiving educational assistance. The library also provides services like career guidance and counselling, reference services, online delivery of newspaper clippings, job advertisements, and online information search assistance.

Duties and responsibility of the committee
- To guide the Librarian in formulating general library policies and regulations which govern the functions of the library.
- To provide for proper documentation services and updating the library collection.
- To work towards modernization (ICT applications) and improvement of Library and documentation Services.
- To formulate policies and procedures for efficient use of Library resources.
- To review Library readership department wise
- To take measures to increase the readership of the library.
Activities of the committee
- To hold meetings to discuss important issues regarding Library.
- To involve all the faculty members in the selection of books pertaining to their subjects.
- To take decisions on purchase of books.
- To organize exhibitions, Workshop, Seminars and Conferences for the betterment of the library.
- To keep pace with modern technology.
- To work on strategies for future improvement of the library
Library Rules and Regulations
- Library Hours: The library is open from 9:30 m. to 4:30 p.m. on working days.
- Borrowing Limits: Students can borrow up to two books at a time, while teachers are allowed to borrow up to four
- Loan Durations: Books can be borrowed for one week by students and for 15 days by
- Late Returns: A fine of Rs. 5 per book will be imposed for both teachers and students if books are returned or reissued after the stipulated
- Renewals: Students and teachers can renew or reissue books only once, and they must return the books after the stipulated duration.
- Reference Materials: Reference materials such as dictionaries, encyclopedias, newspapers, journals, and magazines are not available for
- Lost Books: Users (both students and staff) who lose a book must either provide a replacement copy or pay three times the book’s
- Damaged Books: Users will be fined for damaged books, with the fine amount depending on the extent of the
- Library Etiquette: Library users must be considerate of others by avoiding loud conversations, consuming food or beverages, and using mobile phones for non-academic purposes, as these actions can disrupt fellow
- Admit Card Clearance: Before receiving their admit cards, students must return all borrowed books and clear any outstanding
